What to Wear Winter Wine Tasting

What to wear winter wing tasting

Merry Christmas Eve!

Moving to Georgia, has increased my fondness for the Holidays even more, because it means I get to come home and see family, friends, and one of my favorite activities … traveling to different Lake Towns. This year, we went to Traverse City {which is hands down my favorite — any time of year} and visited a new winery my best friend told me about.

I have grown quite accustomed to Georgia weather so deciding what to wear winter wine tasting, took some time {this wasn’t the first outfit I tried on!}. I wanted to be warm and festive with a little bit of sass {queue the leopard}. Since, it was too cold for my favorite skirt-tights-boots combo, I opted for skinny jeans and rider boots. Then, I decided on this TOMS for Target sweater. I just love the knit patterns, in-lay gold thread, and side slits, but, that means layering is a must! I didn’t want to be too cozy, so I added my favorite silk-leopard sleeveless blouse and Voila we were out the door {only 10 minutes late too!}.

Bonobo Winery Traverse City, Michigan

For those of you who are not familiar with Traverse City, it is the Wine Country of the Midwest {it has even been featured in the Delta Sky Mag as a top Wine destination}. It is located at the North Western part of Michigan’s Lower Peninsula on a bay of Lake Michigan. Bonobo Winery is on Old Mission Peninsula {with many other great wineries} which is parallel to the Leelanau Peninsula, which is also home to breathtaking views and vineyards. If you are looking for a serene-small town summer getaway, I highly suggest traveling north to Traverse City. During the day you can lounge by the Lake, drive the peninsulas, taste wine or shop downtown {and taste the most delicious cherry recipes ever!}. At night, the fun continues with beach bonfires, dinner on the lake, and night life with local Michigan brews. Ok, enough about how amazing this place is, and more about Bonobo!

Bonobo was founded by brothers and Traverse City natives, Todd and Carter Oosterhouse and Carter’s wife Amy Smart {recognize their names?}. Their objective is to offer world-class wines in a rustic, yet elegant atmosphere with a breathtaking view … and they have done just that! The winery over-looks the vineyard and has intimate coves with fireplaces and cute furniture to relax and enjoy good company. The helpful staff will also bring the bottles to you for your wine tasting. Overall, we had a great time and were blown away by the interior, friendly staff, and great wine! {I have added a few photos below of the experience}
