There has been quite a bit of hype in the media about dressing like you are French… and I personally have loved it! The more I read the more I feel like I should have been born in France, I mean, my parents did name me Monique … how much more French can I get?! My favorite quality of the the French Girl wardrobe is that they don’t really follow trends. They dress true to their unique style and stock their closet with timeless pieces. Since, I am not actually French, I have added a few tips below on how to dress Parisian … in America.
My Style : Dress Parisian
I have always been drawn to neutrals {black // grey // beige // white} when shopping for clothes. When my mother would take us school clothes shopping, she would remark on me picking out another grey sweater or a white top similar to one I already owned. But, that was me {and ironically enough — she is the same way — like mother like daughter} and that is perfectly fine. I don’t always buy into the latest trend or what is on the runway. If I like it, great I’ll buy it, if I don’t, fine I will pass. Here are a few tips I live by that align perfectly with the typical Parisian Dress Code.
Less is More
I rarely wear a lot of jewelry, if I do, it is to compliment my clothes, such as the perfect pearl studs or a delicate necklace. I am more confident with minimal jewelry, like above … I only added my everyday bracelets and ring. However, if I am going to add some fun statement jewelry pieces, it will be to glam up a LBD or break up a monochromatic look.
Neutrals are Key
As mentioned above, I am drawn to neutral colors, which don’t have to be boring. For example, above I paired light grey and a black blouse to create contrast, but nothing to attention grabbing. To glam it up, I paired with Valentino look-a-likes with gold studs … gold is basically a neutral {I wish!}. The key when adding color and metallic’s is to take it easy, less is more.
Bold Eye or Bright Lip
Beauty is very much a part your style and to dress Parisian minimal make up is a must, so highlight one feature. In this post, I chose a bold lip and neutral eye. I never mix bold lip and bold eye … it gives the wrong impression. The purpose of makeup is to enhance, not transform.
These are my personal style tips and tricks that align with the style of French Girls.

Love these tips! I love your style and find myself always drawn to black, white, greys and other neutral tones. They are my go-to for sure. I always feel your clothing should have a classic quality about them so I tend to stay away from trendier pieces and purchase items that are timeless. Cheers to your parisian chic!
